Committee

Descriptions

Nominations  This committee is comprised of current board members and tasked with filling vacancies on the board. Our Exec. board members serve two years terms, elected board members serve three year terms.
Legacy  We believe that each of us deserves the opportunity to create a lasting legacy that will live well beyond our years. We ask that you take notice of our legacy program and consider leaving a gift in perpetuity to provide for those who come after you.
Campaign  The annual campaign funds all that we do in Peoria, Israel and 70 countries around the world. If you would like to more involved in our fundraising efforts please contact the office.
Marketing  This committee is always looking for  new ways to engage the Peoria community, Jewish and non-Jewish, in an effort to promote our objectives. The main focus is to promote the Jewish Federation as your portal for Jewish life in Peoria, a role we are well suited for as the Federation crosses all denominational and religious boundaries.
Welcome Committee  If you are new to Peoria (or know of someone who is new) please contact the office. We would love to welcome you and present you with a JFP bag filled with information about the community.
Shalom Baby  New baby ? Please let us know. Our Shalom baby volunteer will stop by with gifts for your baby and information on PJLIbrary.
Young Adult Division  YAD serves our community members ages 20 something to 40 something. Programs include Shabbat dinners, social gatherings and other events as there is interest.
PJ Lib/Bagels&Blocks  PJLIbrary provides beautiful Jewish themed books for children ages 0-7; these books are free to community members thanks to the generosity of our PJLIbrary funders and Harold Grinspoon. You can learn more about PJLibrary and sign up to receive books here: www.pjlibrary.org. There are gatherings throughout the year as we celebrate the holidays, have a child friendly snack and craft and read a PJlibrary book. Please contact the office if you would like more information on PJLIbrary programs.
Yom HaShoah  Yom HaShoah is marked by an annual reading of the names of the victims of the Holocaust and a guest speaker. This speaker is usually a Holocaust survivor, the event is always open to the public and takes place close to Yom HaShoah (generally April or very early May)
YH Essay   Contest  The White Rose Society Essay Contest is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Peoria in conjunction with Robt. W. Baird.
Cultural Committee This committee plans many events that take place throughout the year for the entire community; cooking classes, entertainment, Jewpardy, an annual Channukah party, etc. If you enjoy planning this type of event please contact us to serve on this committee.
B&A The  Budget & Allocations committee is chaired by a past president; positions are appointed by the President and chair. It is their responsibility to craft a budget to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors.
Welfare Committee  This committee responds to requests from members of the Jewish community. In the past we have assisted with utility bills, medical bills, groceries and no interest loans. If you are in need do not hesitate to contact the office; all requests are handled with the utmost respect and discretion.
Finance Committee  The finance committee guides our investments and watches over our current and future financial health.
Paula Bork  The Paula Board Memorial Educational Loan Fund is managed by the Jewish Federation and provides student loans to members of the local Jewish community.
Adult Education The Global Day of Jewish Learning and other educational opportunities are planned by this committee.
CRC  The Community Relations Committee overseas media relations, church/state issues, public school issues, interfaith relations, Israel advocacy, race relations and government affairs.
Camperships  Camperships are available for children attending overnight Jewish camps. Availability varies from year to year, contact the office for details.
